"We welcome those with doubts and questions . . ."

All people, irrespective of age, colour or status are welcome in the Methodist Church. You do not have to have fully found a faith in God. We welcome people with doubts and questions who are feeling their way towards faith, as well as Christian people who move into the area and make Penrith Methodist Church their local church. We welcome both 'locals' and holidaymakers.

We do not see the Church as an escape from real life. Jesus was concerned about people - how people lived with their families and neighbours and He challenged people to make an impact on their communities and on wider society. As a Church we respond to His challenge.

" . . . church is not an escape from real life . . ."

The work of Penrith Methodist Church is rooted in worship and you will continue to find out more about its life and witness as you visit our site.

" . . . Good News of Jesus . . ."

Our priority is to tell people about the good news of Jesus and call people to faith and to Christian discipleship. In doing this, our life and witness is exercised far beyond the Church by its members in their everyday lives, and through our ministers who have good links with local schools, etc.

Penrith Methodist Church is part of a group of other churches and outreach projects in the villages around Penrith.

The Methodist Church

Methodism has its roots in John Wesley (1703 - 1791) who challenged the religious assumptions of his day, urging those to whom he preached to "trust in Christ, Christ alone for salvation" for the assurance that we are all forgiven through Christ.

With all Christian churches, we share in a common belief that God is creator and sustainer of all life and that the death on the cross of God's Son, Jesus Christ, was an act of total love, which, through His resurrection, offers a new start. We share this belief because of the presence of God the Holy Spirit, who continues to challenge, move and inspire us today.
